You know how there are some trends that just call to you, and you’re like, “THIS is what I have been waiting for!” You didn’t know you needed it until you saw it, but now that it’s here, it’s your go-to. For me, this spring’s oversized blazer trend has been that “Aha!” moment. They’re so comfortable, effortlessly chic, and dress up or down with just a few simple switches.

I have been looking for some affordable oversized blazer options for a couple of months now, but was really struggling to find ones that weren’t from brands notorious for making fast-fashion pieces, which I try to stay away from. On the other end of the spectrum were pieces that were way (waaaay) out of my budget. As much as I would love to, I can’t justify spending $500 on a blazer, and pieces like that don’t really fit in with my social circle or work environment.

But recently, I ran into the PERFECT affordable oversized blazer. It’s from Target’s Who What Wear line, and it ticked all of my boxes. It’s in the grey/black family, which is where most of my wardrobe sits. I really like the light plaid pattern on it. The material is light enough that I don’t get hot when I wear it, and the sleeves roll up really nicely. And mega bonus? The pockets are HUGE. It’s just $40, and I don’t know if you know this or not (because I sure was surprised to learn this about two weeks ago), Target has free two-day shipping now! Whaaaat!

When I received it in the mail, I was really happy with the quality. It definitely needed to be steamed after being packed up in a box and shipped, but that was easily done. There were no loose threads hanging anywhere (which is usually my go-to quality inspection trick), and it fit really well. Before even trying it on, it became my favorite thing in my closet.

In the outfit combo pictured, I picked a happy medium between dressed up and down. I wore it to work earlier that day with my favorite black dress and some boots. Josh and I had date night plans after work down in Omaha’s Old Market, so I threw on a black t-shirt, some jeans, a dressy belt, and my favorite pair of J.Crew loafers. Wallah! Date night look - done. And it was the perfect day to wear it because the weather was a beautiful 60 degrees.

Of course, just a day after this, the weather went back down to 30 degrees and snowing, so we’re back to winter coats and boots, but it was fun while it lasted, right?
